This inspiring story takes us to the morning worship of the Hare Krishnas in the outskirts of Thailand. The composition of the painting is filled with deep symbolism: the arrangement of devotees at the altar reflects a person’s path in faith. On the left, we see figures emerging from the morning twilight of nature – these are those who are just setting foot on the spiritual path. Their first act is a bow, symbolizing humility before the Divine. Further, in the center, is the figure of the Teacher, who transmits ancient wisdom to his disciples. Behind him sit devotees who have been in service for a long time. The final accent is the figure on the left, looking towards the rising sun, symbolizing enlightenment.
Water plays a special role in the composition. This pool really exists, and its symbolism is multifaceted.
